Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jassem Mohamed Albudaiwi has stressed the importance of continuing to provide more humanitarian aid to Palestinians, especially in light of the recent repercussions in Gaza, according to a press release from the GCC Secretariat.
This recommendation came during Albudaiwi’s meeting with European Union (EU) Commissioner for Humanitarian Aid and Crisis Management Janez Lenarcic yesterday on the sidelines of the 27th session of the GCC-EU Joint Ministerial Council, held in Muscat, Oman.
The two officials stressed, in the release, that the continuation of the current situation in the Palestinian territories would lead to more tragic humanitarian conditions and that the escalation must be stopped immediately.
During the meeting, they also discussed ways to enhance partnership and cooperation between the GCC and the EU to serve common interests in relevant aspects related to aid and crisis management through the joint action plan approved between the two sides for the period 2022-2027.
