Baku: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, participated in the official opening of the 13th session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) in Baku, Azerbaijan. The event, themed 'Housing the World: Safe and Resilient Cities and Communities,' gathered leaders, ministers, senior officials, and private sector representatives globally.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi highlighted that the GCC's involvement in this global forum underscores the commitment of its member states to advancing sustainable urban development. He emphasized the region's dedication to creating safe and resilient cities and communities that can adapt to future challenges and global changes.
Albudaiwi noted that GCC states have made significant progress in urban planning, housing, and smart infrastructure. This progress is attributed to the adoption of ambitious visions and initiatives aimed at improving quality of life while fostering sustainability and innovation. He also praised the Republic of Azerbaijan for its role in hosting and organizing this important United Nations international forum.
