GCC Secretary General Engages with UNCTAD Acting Secretary-General on Enhancing Trade Cooperation

Geneva: Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi met with Acting Secretary-General of UN Trade and Development (UNCTAD) Pedro Manuel Moreno in Geneva, the Swiss Confederation.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting focused on topics of mutual interest, particularly the cooperation between the Cooperation Council and UNCTAD. Discussions centered on supporting and developing trade and economic relations to serve shared interests. The dialogue also covered recent regional and international developments and their impact on economic and trade sectors, especially concerning navigation freedom in the Strait of Hormuz and the challenges faced by supply chains.

The GCC secretary general highlighted the joint customs efforts within the GCC, which aim to enhance economic integration among member states. He noted the existence of numerous future economic initiatives planned among GCC countries.

The acting secretary-general of UNCTAD acknowledged the measures taken by GCC states to strengthen supply chains amid the ongoing regional crisis.
