Riyadh: Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Jasem Albudaiwi strongly condemned Iran's targeting of the Saudi tanker Wedyan during its passage through the Strait of Hormuz, as well as its targeting of the Qatari tanker Al-Rekayyat, stressing that the attacks represent a dangerous escalation that threatens the security and stability of the region.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and take a firm position against these repeated Iranian attacks in a manner that preserves regional and international peace and security and prevents the recurrence of such hostile acts that threaten regional stability.

Albudaiwi emphasized the GCC states' full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and Qatar, affirming their support for all measures taken to protect and safeguard their national interests.
