Riyadh: GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi strongly condemned the aggressive Iranian attack targeting the United Arab Emirates oil tankers Mombasa and Al Bahiyah, which resulted in the death of one crew member and injuries to several others.

According to Saudi Press Agency, he emphasized that the terrorist attack on the two UAE oil tankers represents a blatant violation and a grave breach of international law and the principles governing the freedom of maritime navigation. "It also constitutes a clear violation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817, which stresses the need to protect international navigation and refrain from targeting commercial vessels or endangering maritime routes," he stated.

Moreover, Albudaiwi reaffirmed that the GCC stands in full solidarity with the UAE, supporting all measures it takes to protect its security, sovereignty, and the safety of its installations and vital interests. He called on the international community, particularly the Security Council, to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and take a firm and deterrent stance against these dangerous and repeated Iranian attacks to ensure their immediate cessation, hold the perpetrators accountable, secure the freedom of international navigation, and safeguard the security and stability of the region and the global economy.

Albudaiwi also expressed his sincere condolences to the family of the victim, wishing the injured a speedy recovery.
