Brussels: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi met today in Belgium with Ukraine’s Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Dr. Maksym Subkh. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ninth Brussels Conference on Syria and centered on several key issues, particularly the ongoing developments in the Russia-Ukraine crisis.
According to Saudi Press Agency, Albudaiwi reiterated the GCC Ministerial Council’s stance from its 163rd session, emphasizing the council’s adherence to international law, the United Nations Charter, and principles that uphold international order. These principles include respecting state sovereignty, territorial integrity, political independence, and non-interference in internal affairs, while rejecting the use of force or threats.
Albudaiwi also highlighted the mediation efforts and initiatives by GCC states aimed at contributing to a political resolution of the crisis between Russia and Ukraine. He reaffirmed the GCC’s support for all international and regional efforts to resolve the crisis through peaceful means.
Dr. Subkh expressed Ukraine’s gratitude for the GCC’s mediation efforts and its humanitarian and relief aid provided to the Ukrainian people.
