GCC Secretary-General and EU High Representative Focus on Cooperation and Summit Outcomes

Brussels: Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi has met with European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and European Commission Vice President Kaja Kallas. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the ninth Brussels Conference on Syria, where discussions centered on cooperation between the GCC and the EU.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting also included a review of the outcomes of the first GCC-EU Summit, which was held in Brussels in October 2024 under the theme “Strategic Partnership for Peace and Prosperity.” This summit was significant as it brought together GCC leaders with the heads of state and government of EU member countries.

During the discussions, both parties exchanged views on key regional and international developments. Albudaiwi commended the EU’s efforts in supporting the stability, prosperity, and security of Syria and its people. He highlighted the importance of these collaborative efforts in addressing ongoing challenges in the region.

Albudaiwi further emphasized that the outcomes of the first GCC-EU Summit reflect a strengthening of historical relations between the two blocs. This enhanced partnership is seen as a means to serve their common goals, interests, and the aspirations of their peoples.
