Riyadh: The GCC Electricity and Water Cooperation Committee held an extraordinary meeting today via videoconference: The meeting was chaired by Bahrain's Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs and current committee chair Yaser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, with the participation of ministers and senior officials responsible for electricity and water affairs from the GCC member states.
According to Saudi Press Agency, GCC Secretary-General Jasem Albudaiwi stated that the ministers and senior officials reviewed the directives issued by the leaders of the GCC member states during their 19th consultative meeting. These directives called for examining and studying future GCC projects related to electricity and water.
Albudaiwi noted that the meeting aimed to implement the directives from the leaders' 19th consultative meeting in Jeddah. The leaders had instructed ministerial committees and similar bodies to continue holding intensive meetings, monitor developments related to the current crisis from all aspects, and submit recommendations and proposals to address it.
He also expressed his appreciation to the ministers and senior officials for directing their respective teams to make every effort and coordinate with the Supreme Committee at the GCC General Secretariat. Albudaiwi emphasized that these efforts reflect their ongoing commitment to advancing joint Gulf cooperation.
