GCC Central Banks Governors Committee Holds 85th Meeting in Kuwait

Kuwait city: The Committee of Governors of Central Banks of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states held its 85th meeting on Sunday in Kuwait City.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was chaired by the Governor of the Central Bank of Kuwait (CBK) and current session president Basel Ahmed Al-Haroon, with the participation of Assistant Secretary General for Economic and Developmental Affairs at the GCC General Secretariat Khalid bin Ali Al-Sunaidi, on behalf of GCC Secretary General Jasem Mohamed Albudaiwi.

The committee members reviewed several key issues related to monetary cooperation, including recommendations from the Deputy Governors’ Committee and the working groups under the Committee of Governors, which addressed payment systems, banking supervision and regulation in GCC member states, financial sector technologies, and integration initiatives.

Discussions also covered joint dialogues between GCC central banks and their European counterparts, as well as with China. Moreover, the committee addressed the exchange of cybersecurity information in the banking sector, GCC efforts to combat money laundering and terrorist financing, and the latest monetary and financial developments in member states.
