Riyadh: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) is set to launch the region’s first specialized statistics innovation lab tomorrow, aiming to cultivate partnerships with researchers and data science enthusiasts from universities, statistical societies, research centers, and innovation hubs to drive innovations in the field of statistics. This initiative reflects GASTAT’s commitment to staying abreast of economic and social shifts while continuously innovating in measurements and indicators. The aim is to deliver high-quality, accurate statistical insights that support the goals of comprehensive and sustainable development, aligning with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the lab identifies research topics in statistics, sharing them with target groups, and inviting them to submit proposals for collaboration with the authority’s specialized teams. The goal is to develop initial project ideas and evaluate their outcomes for potential integration into statistical production. Upon the selection of proposals via the Statistical Innovation Platform, joint teams comprising applicants and GASTAT’s specialized personnel will work to refine project ideas within a six-week timeframe. To bolster collaboration, the lab will then incorporate innovative solutions into statistical products post-evaluation by a technical committee.
The projects initiated by the innovation lab will significantly advance statistical practices in Saudi Arabia, contributing to the evolution of statistical methodologies and the generation of data, indicators, and products that accurately mirror the current economic and social landscape. This endeavor will also empower community innovation within the authority’s offerings.
GASTAT invites individuals interested in applying for the proposed projects to review all details and participation procedures on the platform via the following link: https://www.stats.gov.sa/web/guest/innovation-platform.
