GASTAT Engages in Key Arab Statistical Meeting in Muscat

Muscat: The General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT) participated in the 50th meeting of the Board of Trustees of the Arab Institute for Training and Statistical Research. The meeting, held in Muscat, saw the participation of representatives from Arab statistical agencies and specialized organizations. Discussions centered on advancing pan-Arab statistical work and enhancing cooperation and integration in statistical training, research, and studies.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Saudi delegation was led by Fahad Aldossari, President of GASTAT. Key topics on the agenda included a review of the director general’s 2025 report, the institute’s work program and plan for 2026-2027, and the proposed budget for 2026. The meeting also evaluated the outcomes of the 2020-2030 strategy and highlighted recent statistical initiatives and activities across Arab countries.

Participants explored mechanisms to boost cooperation between the institute and Arab statistical agencies. Discussions were also held on ways to enhance the institute’s training programs to better meet the needs of Arab statistical offices.
