Riyadh: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's welcome of the statement issued by members of the UN Security Council on Friday, which condemned the missile attacks launched by the Houthi terrorist militia against Saudi Arabia since July 13, as well as the attacks targeting commercial vessels since July 22.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Arabia commended the statement's emphasis on the need to adhere to international law and relevant Security Council resolutions, foremost among them Resolution 2216. It also underscored the critical importance of respecting the sovereignty, unity, independence, and territorial integrity of the Republic of Yemen, while firmly rejecting any actions that threaten Middle East security and the rights and freedoms of maritime navigation.

The ministry reiterated its demand that the international community fulfill its responsibilities by implementing relevant Security Council resolutions and taking a firm stance against violations that threaten regional stability, safe navigation, and international trade, which undermine efforts to achieve peace in Yemen and the broader Middle East.

Saudi Arabia reaffirmed its unwavering determination to preserve its security and sovereignty, reserving the right to defend its citizens, assets, and facilities against any attacks and to take all necessary measures in accordance with international law.

The ministry underscored Saudi Arabia's steadfast support for the legitimate Yemeni government and the diplomatic efforts of the UN Special Envoy for Yemen to achieve lasting peace and stability, enhancing broader security across the Middle East and safeguarding international maritime routes.
