Riyadh: Foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Indonesia, Pakistan, Trkiye, Qatar, and Egypt today issued a joint statement welcoming steps taken by Hamas regarding a peace proposal put forward by US President Donald Trump to end the conflict in Gaza.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the foreign ministers praised the steps taken by Hamas concerning President Trump’s proposal, which aims to conclude the war on Gaza, ensure the release of all hostages, and initiate negotiations on implementation mechanisms. The statement highlights the ministers’ support for President Trump’s demand for Israel to halt bombing and start executing the exchange agreement. They acknowledged his dedication to fostering peace in the region, viewing these actions as a significant opportunity to achieve a comprehensive ceasefire and tackle the dire humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip.
The ministers also acknowledged Hamas’s announcement of its willingness to transfer the administration of Gaza to a
transitional Palestinian Administrative Committee composed of independent technocrats. They stressed the urgency of commencing negotiations to finalize mechanisms for the proposal’s implementation and address all related issues.
The foreign ministers reaffirmed their collective commitment to the swift execution of the proposal, aiming for a comprehensive agreement that guarantees an end to the Gaza conflict, unhindered humanitarian aid delivery, prevention of Palestinian displacement, safety for all civilians, hostage release, return of the Palestinian Authority to Gaza, unification of Gaza and the West Bank, and a security plan leading to a complete Israeli withdrawal and Gaza’s reconstruction. This initiative ultimately seeks to establish a path toward a just peace rooted in the two-state solution.
