Riyadh: Minister of Foreign Affairs Prince Faisal bin Farhan bin Abdullah participated today in a High-Level Meeting on Interfaith Dialogue in Rome, part of the Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict. The meeting was chaired by Italian Republic Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Antonio Tajani, with attendance from State of Palestine Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Varsen Aghabekian Shahin, member states of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution, and international partners.
According to Saudi Press Agency, during the meeting, Prince Faisal bin Farhan emphasized the strategic necessity of dialogue among followers of different religions as a fundamental pillar for building a just and lasting peace. He highlighted that the Abrahamic religions are based on the values of human dignity, justice, and peaceful coexistence, asserting that lasting security cannot be realized while others are deprived of their legitimate rights.
Prince Faisal bin Farhan underscored the unique status of Jerusalem for Muslims, Christians, and Jews, reaffirming Saudi Arabia's rejection of attempts to alter the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its holy sites. He expressed concern over provocations at Al-Aqsa Mosque, attacks on holy sites, and measures that increase religious tensions and undermine peace prospects.
The Foreign Minister called for an immediate end to settler terrorism against Palestinians, stating that it is often done with the protection or support of Israeli security forces. He emphasized the need for accountability and highlighted that the ongoing illegal expansion of settlements infringes on Palestinian rights and undermines peace foundations.
He praised international partners for measures such as banning imports of settlement products, imposing sanctions on those responsible for human rights violations against Palestinians, and restricting entry of settlers involved in violence. He urged for further steps to reinforce accountability, demonstrating that such violations will not be tolerated.
In his concluding remarks, Prince Faisal bin Farhan reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's commitment to work with the United States, the State of Palestine, and international partners to implement US President Donald Trump's Comprehensive Plan to End the Gaza Conflict, United Nations Security Council Resolution 2803, and the New York Declaration, including the launch of an interfaith dialogue process based on tolerance and peaceful coexistence.
