Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein affirmed Iraqi government's support for the Syrian people.

He said in a press conference with his Syrian counterpart, Faisal al-Miqdad, that Iraq had received more than 250,000 Syrian refugees.

He added that the humanitarian situation in Syria is difficult and is a focus of Iraqi and international concern.

For his part, the Syrian Foreign Minister, Faisal Al-Miqdad, affirmed that Baghdad and Damascus take a unified position in the face of the current challenges.

Al-Miqdad said in a joint press conference with Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein in Baghdad: "Our relations with Iraq are strategic in various fields, and we look forward to the best relations with Iraq."

He added, "We thank Iraq for all the aid and support it provided to Syria."
