FAO Marks End of ‘International Year of Camelids’ with Ceremony in Rome

Rome: The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) concluded the observance of the “International Year of Camelids” with an official ceremony held at its headquarters in Rome. The event was attended by President of the World Camelids Sport Prince Fahd bin Jalawi bin Abdulaziz bin Musaad, along with senior officials, representatives of member states, and international organizations.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the ceremony was organized in recognition of the vital role camelids play in food security, sports, and economic development, as well as their significance as a deep-rooted cultural heritage among many communities around the world.

The International Year of Camelids served as a key opportunity to highlight the environmental, economic, and social value of camelids, and support pastoralist communities across the globe.
