Damascus: Syrian Minister of Communications and Technology Abdulsalam Haykal visited the headquarters of stc Group on Sunday, accompanied by Saudi Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha. The visit aimed to explore potential collaborations and advancements in digital infrastructure and services.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the ministers were welcomed by stc Group Chairman Prince Mohammed bin Khaled bin Abdullah bin Faisal and stc Group CEO Olayan Alwetaid, along with senior executives from stc Group’s subsidiaries. The officials provided a comprehensive presentation on the company’s digital services and technological solutions, emphasizing their high-speed 5G network, which is among the most extensive in the region. This network supports ultra-fast connectivity and is a crucial component of the Kingdom’s digital transformation efforts.
The presentation further elaborated on the group’s contributions to developing digital infrastructure, which includes large-scale regional data centers. These centers facilitate cloud services, cybersecurity, smart city solutions, and the Internet of Things (IoT), which are vital for applications in smart transport, energy, and digital government services. Additionally, stc Bank’s digital financial services were highlighted as a regional platform for electronic payments and money transfers.
The Syrian delegation was also informed about stc Group’s sustainable initiatives, which align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on innovation and digital transformation. Discussions between the two sides revolved around opportunities for cooperation and the exchange of expertise in the communications and information technology sector, aiming to enhance digital integration between Syria and Saudi Arabia.
