EU condemns Houthi militia’s attacks against Saudi Arabia

The European Union (EU) has strongly condemned the attacks launched by the Houthi militia with missiles and booby-trapped drones targeting civilian infrastructure and energy facilities in different parts of Saudi Arabia, which were successfully intercepted and destroyed by the Royal Saudi Air Defense Forces.

The EU Spokesperson for the European External Action Service in Brussels, Peter Stano, said that Saudi Arabia was again targeted by several drones on Friday, adding that the EU strongly condemns the attacks in Jeddah and other parts of the Kingdom, which were claimed by the Houthi militia. “The Attacks on cities and civilian infrastructure are unacceptable and must stop,” he said.

The spokesperson said in a statement that the recent hostilities increase the risk of an escalation of the conflict in Yemen and undermine ongoing efforts to end the war.

The EU renewed its call on all parties to participate in the Yemeni-Yemeni talks, which start on Tuesday, March 29 in Riyadh under the auspices of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) for Arab States, reiterating the EU’s support for the efforts of the UN Special Envoy, Hans Grundberg.
