Estidamah Launches Saffron Localization Project

The National Research and Development Center for Sustainable Agriculture (Estidamah) has launched a new project to localize and increase saffron production in the Kingdom.

This initiative aligns with the broader national agriculture strategy, which prioritizes the sustainable use of natural resources and the advancement of applied agricultural research.

Focusing on four key regions – Riyadh, Qassim, Tabuk, and Al-Baha – the saffron production localization project seeks to cultivate and promote saffron cultivation throughout the Kingdom. Recognizing the significant economic potential of saffron, Saudi Arabia aims to double its domestic production. However, to support and expand saffron cultivation in the Kingdom’s agricultural landscape, substantial research and scientific studies are essential.

This aligns with Estidamah’s ongoing efforts to develop and promote innovative solutions, ensuring the Kingdom remains at the forefront of modern agricultural practices.
