Environment Ministry Urges Health Guidelines for Selecting Udhiyah During Hajj Season

Makkah: The Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture (MEWA) has emphasized the importance of following health and veterinary guidelines when selecting Udhiyah to ensure meat quality and safety, enhance disease prevention, and safeguard public health during the Hajj season. The ministry stated that choosing a healthy Udhiyah is a key step in ensuring the safety and quality of meat and confirming it is free from diseases. It urged consumers to look for specific health indicators before purchase, including a clean nose with no discharge, normal breathing without coughing, and the absence of abscesses or skin infections such as boils.

According to Saudi Press Agency, MEWA highlighted the importance of observing the animal's overall condition, noting that it should appear active and lively, with no signs of lethargy or weakness. The ministry further stated that following these guidelines during the Hajj season helps raise public awareness of health standards among pilgrims, contributing to improved public health and promoting safe and responsible practices in handling sacrificial animals.
