Makkah: Minister of Environment, Water and Agriculture Abdulrahman Alfadley conducted a field inspection of the readiness of the environment, water, and agriculture system in Makkah and the holy sites, to provide the best services to pilgrims during the Hajj season of 1447 AH.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the tour included reviewing the readiness of water projects and the level of technical and operational preparations, covering production, transmission, storage, and distribution, as well as pumping stations, distribution networks, and strategic storage facilities, to secure a water supply for pilgrims during the Hajj season.
The minister also examined the operational plan of the National Water Company (NWC), implemented by more than 2,400 employees, to ensure uninterrupted pumping around the clock, with a daily average exceeding 760,000 cubic meters and reaching up to one million cubic meters on the Day of Arafah and Eid Al-Adha.
The system's entities also reviewed their preparations in environmental monitoring, waste management, food safety, pest control, and the readiness of slaughterhouses and quarantine facilities, as well as meteorological and environmental observation services at the holy sites.
In the area of food security, the General Food Security Authority (GFSA) confirmed that flour stocks in Makkah and Madinah regions exceed 500,000 bags, along with reserve wheat stocks ready for release when needed.
The system affirmed the completion of its operational, technical, and human preparations to provide the best services to pilgrims at the Holy Mosque and enable them to perform their rituals with ease and reassurance.
