Efforts at Prophet’s Mosque Create Spiritual and Tranquil Atmosphere for Pilgrims

Riyadh: The General Authority for the Care of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque: is dedicated to creating a spiritual and tranquil atmosphere for worshipers as pilgrims from various countries visit the Prophet’s Mosque. The authority’s efforts aim to ensure a smooth flow of worshipers entering and exiting during peak times through 141 strategically positioned gates. They carefully monitor the entrance and departure of visitors along 100 passageways in both the men’s and women’s sections.

According to Saudi Press Agency, to facilitate access to prayer areas on the upper floor, 194 electric staircases and elevators have been optimized throughout the mosque. This initiative particularly benefits older people and individuals with disabilities while ensuring safe and efficient crowd movement during prayer times and exits.

During the post-Hajj season, the Prophet’s Mosque is well-equipped to welcome visitors, with drinking water stations located throughout the courtyards. The Zamzam water program distributes over 10,000 dispensers of Zamzam water around the clock to ensure an adequate supply for pilgrims and worshipers.

The service area beneath the Prophet’s Mosque features 2,782 restrooms, with a continuous water supply available 24 hours a day. Special arrangements are in place for older people and individuals with disabilities. This service zone is accessible via staircases from various entrances in the mosque’s northern, western, southern, and eastern courtyards. Additionally, vehicle parking beneath the mosque is connected to this zone.

The authority’s efforts also include carpeting the northern, western, and southern courtyards of the Prophet’s Mosque to accommodate large crowds. Furthermore, 250 umbrellas have been set up to provide shade and protection from the sun, along with over 437 fans attached to the umbrellas to enhance comfort, ensuring a healthy and safe environment for all worshipers.
