Dr. Mohammed bin Mubarak Juma, Minister of Education and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Higher Education Council (HEC), met a delegation from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland – Medical University of Bahrain (RCSI-Bahrain), led by Professor Cathal Kelly, RCSI Vice Chancellor and Registrar.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Diana Abdulkarim Al Jahrami, Secretary General of the Higher Education Council (HEC), and Dr. Farzana AlMaraghi (Director of Scientific Research) Higher Education Council Bahrain, Dr. Sameer Otoom, President of the RCSI Medical University of Bahrain; and Stephen Harrison-Mirfield, Head of School of Postgraduate Studies and Research.
The minister praised RCSI-Bahrain for its role in advancing the higher education sector and providing academic programmes in medicine and sciences in the kingdom.
He lauded the partnership between the HEC and the RCSI in achieving the strategic goals of developing the higher education sector in Bahrain.
The minister was briefed on the RCSI-Bahrain's future plans which include expanding the college’s facilities and developing new ones, and the college’s most important programmes, in addition to its current and future projects.
The two parties discussed further enhancing cooperation between the Education Ministry and the RCSI by doubling joint programs targeting secondary schools.
