Eastern Region Municipality Plants More Than Two Million Trees, Expands Vegetation Development Initiatives

Eastern region: Eastern Region Municipality planted 2,089,888 trees of various types from 2025 through June 2026 and aims to plant an additional 1.5 million trees during 2026. The efforts seek to develop vegetation cover, expand green spaces, support the objectives of the Saudi Green Initiative, and improve the urban landscape and quality of life, in line with the strategies of the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the figures were discussed during a meeting held today in the presence of Deputy Mayor for Services Mahmoud bin Hassan Al-Ratouei, Director of the Eastern Region Center for Vegetation Cover Eng. Yousef Al-Badr, and the municipality's Director General of Parks and Environmental Architecture Eng. Sultan Al-Shtaiwi. The meeting reviewed targets for developing vegetation cover in the Dammam metropolitan area.

Participants also reviewed the municipality's tree-planting and green-space development efforts, along with initiatives and projects aimed at expanding the planting of trees, shrubs, ground cover, and flowers and developing landscaped green areas.
