Eastern Makkah: A Landscape Written in Stone and Memory

Eastern makkah: The eastern governorates of Makkah Region unfold as a seamless canvas, stretching from the northern reaches of Taif through Turbah, Ranyah, and Al-Khurmah, to the borders of Arn in Al-Mahd. Here, mountains entwine with valleys, plains, and plateaus, composing a landscape where the richness of terrain meets the depth of history-an enduring legacy carried across generations and preserved in ruins, stories, and verse.

According to Saudi Press Agency, historian Dr. Saleh Al-Sulami notes that this expanse, from Ashirah and Al-Faydah to Mahani, Hafar Kishb, Hathah, and Arn, bears a distinct identity shaped by ancient routes and early settlements. Fortresses and traditional mud-and-stone dwellings still stand, echoing the rhythms of past lives and architectural ingenuity.

Its ecological diversity, wildlife, and natural wealth further enhance its allure. Amid black volcanic fields, pockets of water nourish fertile oases and thriving palm groves, yielding fine date varieties, while valleys and ravines flow like lifelines, sustained by enduring, traditional farming practices.
