Darah Showcases Century of Hajj History at Hajj Conference

Riyadh: The King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Archives (Darah) is participating in the Hajj Conference and Exhibition with an accompanying exhibition that documents the history of the Hajj journey and the development of its services over the past century.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the exhibition showcases a rich collection of rare original documents, historical photographs displayed for the first time, manuscripts, and archaeological artifacts, along with tools once used by pilgrims. It also employs digital media and modern display technologies to visually revive the memory of Hajj and its evolution through time.

Among the most notable attractions within the exhibition is ‘The Roads to Hajj’ pavilion, which presents a detailed narrative of the historical transformation in pilgrims’ modes of transportation, from arduous land and sea caravan routes to the introduction of air travel and the modern transportation systems that now make the pilgrimage easier, safer, and more efficient.

Darah’s participation in the Hajj Conference and Exhibition underscores its role as a national reference for preserving the Kingdom’s history and heritage and for documenting the development of services for pilgrims. Visitors leave the exhibition having witnessed the story of a nation that transformed Hajj into a global model of crowd management, hospitality, and human service, and a journey that continues to advance year after year.
