The Culinary Arts Commission and Slow Food International presented the first results of the "Slow Food in Saudi Arabia" project, whose goal is to promote the rich culinary heritage of Saudi Arabia and its biodiversity, food producers and chefs who work to preserve the gastronomic heritage by having local foodstuff on their menus and promoting it in the markets.
The project aspires to protect local biodiversity and highlight the importance of traditional products.
The first 60 Saudi products were carefully selected for the " Ark of Taste" catalog, based on cultural considerations and their significance in cooking, including dates, honey, spices, grains, fruits, vegetables, meat and dairy products that have been grown in the Kingdom for centuries. The “Ark of Taste” aspires to raise awareness about Saudi food, highlighting the importance of preserving the local food heritage.
The commission and its partner Slow Food International celebrate the Kingdom’s rich culinary heritage, in line with the Commission's vision for consolidating the Saudi culinary arts and making the Kingdom a home for an exceptional gastronomic experience that highlights its hospitality and culture, both locally and globally.
The project also aims to make the Kingdom a leading destination, in the Middle East and the Arab world, for unique and rich tastes.
