Riyadh: The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has invited public input on the "Regulations for Satellite Filings" and "Regulations for the Use of Radio Spectrum by Earth Stations in Space Radio Services," which aim to develop regulatory frameworks for earth station radio spectrum use and Saudi satellite filings, clarify technical requirements and procedures for stakeholders, enhance spectrum management efficiency, and enable current and future space radio technologies.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the documents also seek to align with national legislation and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) Radio Regulations, while boosting investment and innovation in the communications and space radio communication sectors.

The "Regulations for the Use of Radio Spectrum by Earth Stations in Space Radio Services" document outlines the requirements for obtaining a radio spectrum license for an earth station or an earth station network. Meanwhile, the "Satellite Filing Regulations" document sets out the procedures and provisions that must be followed when submitting satellite filings to the ITU under the Kingdom's name.

These documents are part of CST's ongoing efforts to strengthen Saudi Arabia's digital and space infrastructure, attract investment, and foster innovation in the communications and space technology sectors. They also aim to enhance the management of the national spectrum resources and their use in space orbits, further reinforcing Saudi Arabia's leadership in the space sector and its advanced technologies.
