Riyadh: The Communications, Space and Technology Commission (CST) has granted a Carrier Service Provider (CSP) License to the National Water Company (NWC) during the international technology conference LEAP26. This move is set to unlock an anticipated investment of SAR455 million ($121.3 million) aimed at developing the telecommunications sector, maximizing the utilization of companies' existing infrastructure, and fostering an environment conducive to advanced technologies. The initiative also seeks to attract global technology pioneers.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the license was presented by CST Licensing General Manager Mazen Alnasser to NWC Chief Financial Officer Nasser Alkhelaiwi. The event was also attended by Saudi Water Authority (SWA) Deputy Governor for Branches Mohsen Alsalmi. The granting of the CSP License to NWC is expected to enable utility companies to leverage surplus capacity in their existing infrastructure, such as fiber-optic networks, towers, and culverts. This capacity will be made accessible to service providers holding individual licenses, promoting better utilization and enhancing efficiency among licensed service providers.

The license forms part of CST's efforts to develop the domestic market and advance the national telecommunications sector. It is designed to strengthen telecom infrastructure, support sector growth, boost competitiveness, and broaden the business scope and services provided.
