Jeddah: His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, chaired a Cabinet session in Jeddah. According to Saudi Press Agency, the Cabinet reviewed outcomes from recent consultations and discussions between Saudi Arabia and other nations, including a message from Bangladesh's Prime Minister Tarique Rahman to the Crown Prince.
The Cabinet praised the first meeting of the Strategic Political Defence Committee of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement between Saudi Arabia, Trkiye, and Pakistan. This meeting resulted in an agreement to establish a General Secretariat in Saudi Arabia and activate joint cooperation mechanisms to enhance coordination, integration, and support international security and regional efforts toward achieving lasting peace.
In a statement to the Saudi Press Agency, Minister of Media Salman Al-Dossary shared that the Cabinet reaffirmed Saudi Arabia's support for enhancing the role of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in serving Islamic causes. The Cabinet also congratulated Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed on his election as OIC secretary-general and expressed appreciation for former secretary-general Hissein Brahim Taha's efforts.
The Cabinet highlighted Saudi Arabia's active engagement in regional and international organizations and commended the national efforts that led to the accreditation of 21 healthy cities by the World Health Organization. This achievement reflects the Kingdom's commitment to sustainable development focused on human well-being and quality of life.
The Cabinet lauded the National Greening Program for receiving a United Nations award for World Restoration Flagships, recognizing its efforts in expanding vegetation cover, rehabilitating lands, protecting ecosystems, and enhancing biodiversity.
The Cabinet also noted Saudi Arabia's re-election as Chair of the Executive Council of the Arab Administrative Development Organization, emphasizing its role in supporting joint Arab action and advancing human resource development and service quality.
Several decisions were issued during the session, including approving an agreement with the Hellenic Republic on visa exemption, authorizing a draft agreement with the Argentine Republic to avoid double taxation, and approving memorandums of understanding with Syria, Djibouti, and Poland. Additionally, May 12 was designated as Organ Donation Day.
