COP 16 Riyadh: Int’l Afforestation Exhibition, Forum Explores Desertification Combat Innovations.

Riyadh: The National Center for Vegetation Cover Development and Combating Desertification, in cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Water and Agriculture, are geared up for organizing the International Exhibition and Forum for Afforestation Technologies 2024 from December 6 to 8.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the event will be hosted by the Green Zone at the 16th Conference of the Parties (COP16) to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (UNCCD) in Riyadh. UNCCD COP16, scheduled for December 2-13, will be the largest multilateral conference ever hosted by Saudi Arabia.

For the first time since the inception of these conferences nearly three decades ago, a UNCCD COP will include a green zone, constituting an innovative concept introduced by the Kingdom. The initiative reflects Saudi Arabia’s commitment to environmental sustainability and desertification combat.

The International Exhibition and Forum for Afforestation Technologies, comprising 10 sessions and seminars, will bring
together 50 experts, decision-makers, and researchers from within and outside the Kingdom to discuss the latest innovations and solutions in afforestation and desertification control.

Additionally, the event aims to enhance international cooperation and knowledge exchange to ensure a sustainable environmental future for the upcoming generations, reflecting the Kingdom’s ongoing efforts to address global environmental challenges.
