Communications Minister Engages with Chinese Officials and Tech Leaders to Boost AI and Space Partnerships

Beijing: Minister of Communications and Information Technology Abdullah Alswaha, along with Governor of the Communications, Space and Technology Commission Eng. Haytham AlOhali and Saudi Ambassador to China Abdulrahman Al-Harbi, conducted a series of discussions in China with senior government officials and technology executives. The meetings aimed at exploring opportunities for partnerships in artificial intelligence, the digital economy, technology transfer, space, and emerging technologies, enhancing the strategic relationship between Saudi Arabia and China.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Alswaha held discussions with Yin Hejun, Minister of Science and Technology of China, focusing on strengthening cooperation in artificial intelligence, the digital economy, technology transfer, and talent exchange programs. The talks also included strategies for increasing the presence of prominent Chinese technology companies in Saudi Arabia.

In the realm of space, Alswaha engaged with Dr. Shan Zhongde, Administrator of the China National Space Administration and Vice Minister of Industry and Information Technology, to explore collaborative opportunities in space technologies. The discussions centered on expanding innovation partnerships and developing sector-specific capabilities.

Additionally, Alswaha met with the executives of Moonshot AI, creators of the Kimi large language model, to deliberate on the development of large language models and AI-driven generative technologies. The conversations also touched on technology transfer and commercialization, aiming to boost Saudi Arabia's digital economy and emerging tech sectors.

Further engagements included discussions with Zhang Lidong, Chairman of ByteDance China, on cooperation in generative artificial intelligence, data centers, algorithm development, and large language models. The focus was on increasing the company's footprint in Saudi Arabia, thereby fostering the growth of the technology innovation ecosystem and enhancing the competitiveness of the digital economy.

These strategic meetings underscore Saudi Arabia's commitment to developing impactful international partnerships, attracting advanced technologies and investments, building national capabilities, and reinforcing its global presence in the fields of technology, artificial intelligence, and space.
