China renewed today the blue alert for Typhoon Khanun, the sixth typhoon this year, which is expected to bring strong winds and heavy rains to the northern and northeastern provinces, as reported by the Xinhua News Agency.
The Chinese National Meteorological Center (NMC) said that Typhoon Khanun is moving northwestward at a speed ranging from 20 to 25 km per hour and is expected to reach the southern coast of the Republic of Korea. The typhoon will cause heavy rains to fall on parts of northeastern China from Thursday morning to Friday morning. Some areas are expected to experience rainstorms, the NMC added. Also, some areas of the Bohai Sea, the Yellow Sea and the East Sea, and coastal waters off the Liaodong Peninsula are likely to be affected by strong winds.
The NMC urged local authorities to prepare for typhoon emergency response and to be on high alert for possible floods and geological disasters.
