Participation of King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve at ADIHEX 2022 in Abu Dhabi Concluded

Abu Dhabi– King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve concluded its participation in the activities of the 19 session of Abu Dhabi International Hunting and Equestrian Exhibition (ADIHEX), which was held from September 26 to October 02, 2022.

The exhibition was organized by the Emirates Falconers’ Club (EFC), under the patronage of Sheikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Ruler’s Representative in Al-Dhafra Region, and Chairman of the Emirates Falconers’ Club (EFC).

A number of officials, ambassadors and those interested in the environment visited King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve’s pavilion at ADIHEX 2022.

KACST Participates in STS 2022 Forum, Signs a Letter of Intent with US National Science Foundation to Promote Scientific and Technical Cooperation

Jeddah– King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology (KACST) participated in the 19th session of the Annual Meeting of Science and Technology in Society forum (STS 2022), taking place in Kyoto, Japan, from 2-4 October 2022, in the presence of the Japanese Prime Minister, the honorary president of the forum, and a group of leaders and experts.

The Kingdom’s delegation to the forum was headed by KACST President Dr. Munir bin Mahmoud Al-Desouki, who confirmed in a dialogue session chaired by the President of the European Council Maria Leptin, that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is one of the countries that invested in basic research, and its funding amounted to 50% of the total funding in research and development, adding that Saudi Arabia will continue to support such research, and will focus more in the next stage on innovation and the role of the private sector in it.

Dr. Al-Desouki highlighted the key transformation that the Kingdom is witnessing in the research, development and innovation sector in light of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and the efforts led by the state to develop this vital sector through the formation of the Supreme Committee for Research, Development and Innovation (RDI), chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, establishing the Research, Development and Innovation Development Authority, and launching national aspirations and priorities for research, development and innovation that focus on human health, environmental sustainability, leadership in energy and industry and future economies.

The forum saw the signing of a letter of intent by Dr. Al-Desouki, who is also supervising the founding team of the Research, Development and Innovation Development Authority, and the Director of the American National Science Foundation Dr. Sethuraman Panchanathan, to explore areas of scientific, technical and research cooperation of common interest, and possible ways that benefit the two countries.

The signing of the letter comes within the framework of the scientific and technical cooperation agreement signed between the Kingdom and the United States, to develop the research, development and innovation sector, and achieve the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 to transform towards an innovation-based economy.

On the sidelines of the Forum, Dr. Al-Desouki held several meetings with the heads of participating universities, institutes and research centers to enhance cooperation in areas that focus on national aspirations for research, development, and innovation.

Jeddah– His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, has sent a cable of congratulation to Colonel Mamady Doumbouya, Chairman of the National Committee of Reconciliation and Development, Head of State, and President of the Republic Guinea, on the occasion of the anniversary of his country’s Independence Day.

HRH the Crown Prince expressed his sincere congratulations and best wishes of permanent health and happiness to the President, and further progress and prosperity to the Government and people of the Republic Guinea.

MAWANI, Tabadul Sign MoU to Develop New Saudi Ports Management Systems

Riyadh, October 2, 2022, SPA — The Saudi Ports Authority (MAWANI) and Saudi Company for Exchanging Digital Information (Tabadul) today signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the aim of developing new Saudi ports management systems as part of their endeavors to lead the change of the future of commercial movement and guarantee competitiveness and realizing sustainable growth at Saudi ports.

The MoU aims at expanding and doubling services provided at Saudi ports from their current number of 46 to 150; empowering modern and emerging technologies according to the best international practices, mainly technologies related to geographical borders and the Internet of Things; and providing safe, quick and advanced services to beneficiaries in the fields of payments and billing with the use of the latest applications FinTech.

The memorandum also stipulates re-engineering procedures and operations at Saudi ports, ensuring the level of its conformity to international standards, enhancing their connection to global ports, facilitating the application of smart gates and applying modern emerging technologies that are directly and indirectly related to the Saudi ports management systems.

This is part of the Smart Ports initiative that MAWANI has launched to apply modern and advanced automation technologies in a way that realizes plans for digital transformation in the logistical sector, in line with the goals of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy to instill the status of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a global logistical hub and a gateway for three continents.

MAWANI, through the initiative that was launched in the first quarter of 2022, also seeks to enhance its contributions in realizing the targets of the Saudi Vision 2030 towards a prosperous digital economy through speeding up and enabling 5G technologies in the logistical sector, enhancing cooperation in offering ICT services, activating the approach of innovation, research and development in a way that makes Saudi ports at the top of applying modern technologies and harnesses its competitiveness at the regional and international levels in terms of trading goods and serving importers and exporters.
