Toronto: Prime Minister of Canada Mark Carney announced today his country’s official recognition of the State of Palestine, reaffirming Canada’s commitment to supporting efforts toward a two-state solution. ‘Canada recognizes the State of Palestine and affirms its readiness to work in partnership to achieve a peaceful future for both the State of Palestine and the State of Israel,’ Carney said in a statement.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Carney added that the decision comes within the framework of a joint international effort to preserve the possibility of a two-state solution.
