Aseer: Berry farms in Aseer Region have emerged as a promising pillar of tourism by capitalizing on the area’s unique environmental and agricultural diversity, serving as an integrated model that connects agricultural heritage with tourism development and promotes sustainable rural tourism.

According to Saudi Press Agency, with a growing presence on the Saudi tourism map, the farms offer interactive experiences tailored to visitors’ expectations, empower rural communities, and support domestic tourism.

Farmer Saleh Al-Amri, owner of a 1,000-square-meter berry farm in Ahad Rufaidah Governorate, told the Saudi Press Agency that his farm includes over 5,000 blackberry trees and has seen rising visitor numbers during the summer season. Al-Amri noted that the farm offers a comprehensive tourism experience, allowing visitors to explore the orchards, pick their own berries, and enjoy fresh produce in a setting that combines leisure with learning.

In addition to fruit picking, the farm produces a variety of value-added products such as jams, juices, and ice cream, contributing to local economic development and enhancing the value of regional produce.

Al-Amri added that the success of berry farming is supported by Aseer’s natural environment, characterized by a temperate climate and fertile soil. The region also cultivates seasonal fruits such as grapes, pomegranates, and strawberries. Farms in the area are no longer limited to agriculture alone; they have evolved into full-fledged tourist destinations that attract thousands of visitors annually, boosting agricultural tourism in the region.
