Makkah: The Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA), in collaboration with the Ministry of Interior, is advancing the technological readiness for the Hajj season of 1447 AH through the smart Baseer platform. This initiative focuses on improving crowd and security management at the Two Holy Mosques and the access points that lead to them.
According to Saudi Press Agency, the Baseer platform utilizes artificial intelligence (AI) technologies and big data analytics collected from surveillance camera data. This allows for real-time readings of crowd movements and monitors human density indicators. These capabilities are designed to aid field decision-making processes and enhance the management efficiency of pilgrim movements.
The platform's integration with the smart camera system and the Sawaher platform provides a sophisticated infrastructure for monitoring rooms. This integration facilitates crowd counting, identification of congested routes, and the delivery of real-time analytics, all of which support crowd-management plans. The platform's ultimate goal is to improve response times and ensure the highest levels of safety and security for pilgrims.
