Dhaka: The Election Commission of the People's Republic of Bangladesh announced today that the presidential election will be held on August 20, according to the Bangladesh News Agency.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the agency quoted Election Commission Secretariat Secretary Akhtar Ahmed as saying: "Following discussions with the speaker of the National Parliament and in accordance with the schedule, the presidential election has been set for August 20. The deadline for submitting nomination papers is August 13, their scrutiny will take place on August 16, and candidates may withdraw their nominations on August 18."
