Bahrain Welcomes Signing of Prisoner Exchange Agreement in Yemen

Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed the country’s welcome of the signing of an agreement in the Omani capital, Muscat, for the exchange of prisoners and detainees in the Republic of Yemen, under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Committee of the Red Cross, mediated by the Sultanate of Oman and in cooperation with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement was described as a positive and important step toward addressing humanitarian conditions and supporting efforts toward a comprehensive peaceful settlement in Yemen.

The Kingdom of Bahrain reaffirmed its firm and supportive position toward all international and regional efforts and initiatives aimed at reaching a comprehensive and lasting political solution in the Republic of Yemen, in accordance with the Gulf Initiative and its Executive Mechanism, the outcomes of the Comprehensive National Dialogue Conference, and UN Security Council Resolution 2216, in a manner that preserves Yemen’s sovereignty, unity, territorial integrity, and independence, and fulfills the aspirations of its brotherly people for security, peace, stability, and sustainable prosperity.
