Bahrain Condemns Iranian Attack on Saudi and Qatari Oil Tankers

Manama: The Kingdom of Bahrain condemned the Iranian attack targeting Saudi and Qatari oil tankers while they were transiting the Strait of Hormuz, endangering their crews. It said the attack constituted an assault on the security of international navigation and global energy supplies, as well as a violation of international law and United Nations Security Council Resolution no. 2817. Bahrain also described the attack as a breach of the Islamabad memorandum of understanding and a setback to efforts aimed at promoting de-escalation and regional security and stability.

According to Saudi Press Agency, the Bahraini Ministry of Foreign Affairs reaffirmed Bahrain's full solidarity with Saudi Arabia and Qatar and expressed support for the measures taken by both countries to safeguard their security and vital interests. It also called on the international community, particularly the United Nations Security Council, to uphold its responsibilities by taking a firm stance to prevent further attacks and ensure freedom of navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
