Azerbaijan announces the launch of a mechanism for granting visas to Iraqis with simplified procedures in Baghdad

The Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Republic of Iraq, Naseer Mammadov, announced today, Sunday, the start of granting visas to Iraqi citizens wishing to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan through the Embassy headquarters in the capital, Baghdad.

The Azerbaijani Ambassador said in a statement, “After the issuance of the presidential decree of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan appointing me as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, we began granting visas to Iraqi citizens wishing to visit the Republic of Azerbaijan, starting in the middle of last week, through a mechanism and facilities that the Embassy shortened in a simplified and transparent manner in accordance with the laws and regulations, and for a visa fee of only 20 US dollars.

The Ambassador added, "The competent government body in Azerbaijan allowed Iraqi Airways to operate direct flights to Azerbaijan, and according to the data, it is expected that direct flights will be operated from the capital's Baghdad airport and Kirkuk airport during the coming days. In the next stage, direct flights will be allocated from Basra and Erbil, in addition, we are currently working with the official authorities to implement direct flights for Azerbaijani Airlines to various cities in Iraq.”
