Assistant Minister of Culture Meets UNESCO Assistant Director-General in Paris

Riyadh: Assistant Minister of Culture Rakan Al-Touq met today with Assistant Director-General for Culture at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Nayef Al-Fayez, during his visit to France.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Al-Touq congratulated Al-Fayez on his appointment as UNESCO assistant director-general for culture, expressing his wishes for success in achieving the aspirations of the organization and member states for the cultural sector.

The meeting focused on cooperation between the Kingdom and UNESCO, discussing strategies to strengthen joint efforts in the cultural field. Topics included Saudi Cultural Development Fund projects that support heritage areas, opportunities to collaborate on protecting and preserving cultural heritage, and developing practices related to managing heritage sites.

Additionally, the meeting addressed the Kingdom's preparations to host the World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development (MONDIACULT) in 2029, exploring coordination mechanisms with UNESCO for the upcoming conference.
