The countdown has begun for the FIBA Asia Cup, set to take place in August 2025 in Jeddah, with the unveiling of the tournament’s official logo.
The tournament’s logo and visual identity were unveiled on Tuesday at the Saudi Olympic and Paralympic Committee (SOPC) headquarters in Riyadh. The ceremony was attended by the Head of SOPC’s Joint Service Sector, Eng. Bakr Darwish, Saudi Basketball Federation (SBF) president Dr. Ghassan Tashkandi, and FIBA executive director for Asia and Asia Secretariat chief executive Hagop Khajirian.
The visual identity for the FIBA Asia Cup draws inspiration from the traditional Saudi ‘Ardah’ dance, a cultural symbol of Saudi heritage. The design fuses Ardah’s rhythmic movements with the agility of basketball players, reflecting a blend of tradition and athleticism.
The FIBA Asia director stated that the unveiled logo marks the countdown to the 2025 Asia Cup, showcasing the progress achieved in Asian basketball and its promising future potential. ‘The design stands out for i
ts simplicity and striking quality, symbolizing Asian basketball in a single glance-the simplicity that achieves goals,’ Khajirian said.
Meanwhile, the Saudi basketball president expressed the Kingdom’s eagerness to welcome the Asian basketball community and to offer an experience that combines authentic traditions with a forward-looking vision. Dr. Tashkandi also noted that the logo reflects this vision by blending traditional symbols with the color lavender, inspired by the beautiful lavender flower in the Kingdom.
The journey to qualify for the 2025 Asia Cup began in February 2024 with the first of three qualifying rounds, which will determine the 16 teams advancing to the tournament in Jeddah. The second round, scheduled from November 21 to 25, will be decisive in shaping the path for teams vying for a spot in the Asian championship.
