Cairo: The League of Arab States General Secretariat has held a coordination meeting in Cairo with the Standing Committee of International Humanitarian Law in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to discuss ways to enhance legal cooperation and exchange expertise in the field of International Humanitarian Law (IHL).
According to Saudi Press Agency, the meeting was attended by Secretary-General of the committee Dr. Abdullah bin Madrek Al-Rwailly, and Director of the Department of Treaties and International Law at the League of Arab States, Minister Plenipotentiary Dr. Sally Sabry. During the meeting, participants commended the Kingdom’s pioneering experience in the field of international humanitarian law and its initiatives in training, capacity building, and raising legal awareness. These efforts contribute to sharing expertise and strengthening Arab cooperation in the vital field.
The discussions also covered potential Arab cooperation projects in the legal and training sectors, as well as ways to enhance the dissemination of international humanitarian law awareness across the Arab region in support of efforts aimed at protecting human life and preserving human dignity.
The meeting comes as part of the ongoing efforts to strengthen Arab action in the field of international humanitarian law and to develop sustainable Arab capacities that reinforce respect for IHL principles at both the national and regional levels.
