AlUla: A press conference was held yesterday at AlFursan Equestrian Village in AlUla, ahead of the fifth annual AlUla Tour 2025. The cycling tour, organized by the Saudi Cycling Federation in partnership with the Amaury Sport Organisation and the Royal Commission for AlUla (RCU) under the supervision of the Ministry of Sport, will take place from January 28 to February 1.

According to Saudi Press Agency, Saudi Cycling Federation President Abdulaziz Al-Shahrani confirmed that the AlUla Tour is a significant event for the Kingdom in the sports field, serving as a source of inspiration for the nation to compete at the highest levels. He emphasized that the federation’s vision revolves around developing cycling sports and encouraging its practice among all segments of society.

RCU Chief Sports Officer Ziad Alsuhaibani stated that hosting AlUla Tour welcomes top cyclists globally and highlights AlUla’s historical landmarks and diverse natural landscapes. He noted that the RCU had extended the cycling track from 45 to 68 kilometres, with further expansion planned. Future initiatives include partnerships focused on school participation and children’s races to develop a new generation of Saudi cyclists.

The head of the Saudi national team, Ali Al-Sheikh, emphasized that all competitors will strive to showcase the Kingdom’s cycling talent. He acknowledged the significant support from all involved parties, which has been instrumental in their participation in this global event.

Dutchman Dylan Groenewegen, rider for Team Jayco AlUla, highlighted the tour’s competitive nature, noting AlUla governorate’s unique terrain and natural beauty compared to other locations worldwide. He added that sand and wind conditions would play a role in the race and expressed his hope for a strong performance and victory.
