Riyadh: Chairman of the Executive Council of the Arab League Educational, Cultural and Scientific Organization (ALECSO) and representative of Saudi Arabia, Hani Al-Muqbil, said the organization's 56th anniversary marks an important occasion to reflect on a long history of joint Arab action, during which ALECSO has continuously developed into the foremost Arab institution supporting education, culture, and science.

According to Saudi Press Agency, in remarks on the occasion of ALECSO's founding anniversary on July 25, 1970, Al-Muqbil noted that the organization's continuity for more than five and a half decades underscores its role in supporting knowledge development in Arab countries and demonstrates its ability to evolve in line with member states' priorities.

He said the executive council places special focus on countries facing exceptional circumstances and developmental challenges affecting their educational, cultural, and scientific institutions, allocating $1 million for five Arab countries at $200,000 each over two years, for the first time in the organization's history.

Al-Muqbil affirmed that the executive council will continue working with the organization and member states to strengthen institutional governance, develop decision-making mechanisms, and support high-impact programs. This reinforces ALECSO's position as the Arab world's center of expertise and enhances its role in shaping a more prosperous future for the region.
