Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani affirmed Iraq’s desire to strengthen close and historical relations with the Russian Federation.
A statement from his media office said that Prime Minister Muhammad Shiaa Al-Sudani received, today, Tuesday, Assistant to the President of the Russian Federation, Igor Levitin, and his accompanying delegation.
During the meeting, they discussed bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to enhance mutual cooperation in various fields, in addition to discussing al-Sudani's upcoming visit to Moscow.
According to the statement, the Prime Minister referred to the close and historical relations that bind Iraq with Russia, and the government’s desire to strengthen them, stressing that Iraq has launched the Development Road Project with Al-Faw Port Project, which is considered a sustainable economic project, within the government’s policy of shifting towards a multiple economy and not relying on oil, in addition to its importance to the countries of the region, and its integration with other economic corridors.
For his part, Levitin presented the greetings of Russian President Vladimir Putin to the Prime Minister, and also offered congratulations on the occasion of the Iraqi National Day, stressing his country's desire to consolidate cooperation with Iraq at various levels.
