The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called for a million-man demonstration after next Friday prayers, in Tahrir Square in central Baghdad, in support of the Palestinian resistance.

Al-Sadr said in a blog post today: “It is incumbent on us, the Iraqi mujahideen resisting the American occupation, and everyone who loves the Palestinian cause, to take out the street with peaceful, united, million-man demonstrations in the Square of Reform and the Oppressed (al-Tahrir Square), so that the voice of jihad rises from the Iraqi capital, Baghdad, and reaches the whole world, and let us burn the Israeli flags, raising the Palestinian flags side by side with the Iraqi flag.”
