The head of the State of Law Coalition, Nuri al-Maliki, received in his office today the head of the Sabean-Mandaean sect, Sheikh Sattar Jabbar Helo.
At the outset of the meeting, the head of the Sabean-Mandaean congratulated al-Maliki and the Iraqi people on the occasion of Eid al-Adha. The political reality in Iraq was also discussed and the efforts made by the political forces to support the government to meet the demands of the Iraqi people.
And the head of the State of Law coalition stressed that "the ethnic diversity in Iraq represents a source of strength and promotes peaceful coexistence among its sects and contributes to building stability, calling for the Sabean-Mandaean to have a role in the process of building Iraq."
For his part, the head of the Sabean-Mandaean community, Sheikh Sattar Jabbar Helo, confirmed that the Iraqi Sabeans adhere to their identity and are keen to participate in building it with the rest of their brothers from other religions and sects.
