Jeddah: The Local Organizing Committee for the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 and King Abdulaziz University, represented by the Faculty of Human Sciences and Design, have entered into a cooperation agreement aimed at forming a strategic partnership to bolster the Kingdom's initiatives to host continental and international sporting events. According to Saudi Press Agency, the agreement is designed to harness the academic and research capabilities of the university to conduct studies on the economic, social, health, and nutritional impacts of hosting major sporting events, aligning with the goals set out in Saudi Vision 2030. The collaboration also focuses on supporting research activities, enhancing community involvement, organizing joint events, encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, and performing studies on climate change and sustainability. This includes assessing both direct and indirect carbon emissions throughout the entire lifecycle of sporting events.
